Eric Weinrich
Assistant Coach
The 2009-10 season marks Eric Weinrich's third season behind the Portland Pirates bench having served as an assistant under head coach Kevin Dineen in 2006-07 and 2008-09.
Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Weinrich, who was selected 32nd overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft, enjoyed a 21-year playing career that featured 388 points (70 goals and 318 assists) and 825 penalty minutes in 1,157 NHL games. The 42 year-old completed his playing career with the Pirates in 2006-07 and 2007-08 scoring three goals and 19 assists in 88 games.
The Gardiner, Maine native also built an extensive international resume during his career. He participated in nine World Championships for Team USA - the most of any American-born player. He also represented the US at the 1988 Olympic Winter Games, the 1991 Canada Cup and the 2004 World Cup of Hockey.
Before turning pro Weinrich spent three seasons at the University of Maine (1985-88).
Eric, his wife Tracy and two children, Ben and Emily, live on Cousins Island in Yarmouth.
