Brad Church played a total of six seasons in Portland as a hard-nosed winger who would ever give up on a play. Church’s career total of 281 games played is the 6th most in franchise history. He endeared himself to Pirates fans with his never-say-die attitude. He was voted by the team’s fans as the Pirates Unsung Hero for the 1999-2000 season. An an assistant captain for two seasons, Church scored 40 goals and added 64 assists for a total of 104 points in a Pirates uniform. His total of 402 career penalty minutes ranks 9th all-time in team history. Church was drafted 17th overall by the by the Washington Capitals in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. He played two NHL games in his career, both for Washington, in the 1997-98 season.
