Portland Pirates Community Captains Program, Presented by On Target Utility Services
What does it mean to be a Community Captain?
Now in its second year, the Community Captains Program is a partnership between the Portland Pirates, On Target Utility Services and 13 local businesses which generously provide over 5,000 tickets and memorable game experiences to charities throughout Southern Maine. On Target Utility Services and these Community Captains have partnered with 14 charities to provide tickets for all 38 home games to those that would otherwise be unable to attend a Pirates game at the Civic Center or Androscoggin Bank Colisee. In addition, each Community Captain also sponsors a Community Cause Night where each of 14 charities are invited to attend as a group and spread the word about their worthy cause.
On the morning of Tuesday, October 9th, caravans loaded with a collection of Pirates players, coaching staff and Salty Pete made personal Community Captain deliveries throughout Southern Maine. In partnership with On Target Utility Services, the Pirates were able to visit or make ticket donations to the following organizations: The Make – A - Wish Foundation of Greater Portland, The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Maine, The Center for Grieving Children, The Root Cellar of Portland and Lewiston, The United Way of Greater Portland, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine, The Junior Diabetes Research Foundation of Maine, Care Baskets and the Maine Children’s Cancer Program.
The Portland Pirates would like to thank On Target Utility Services and the following Community Captains for their participation in this charitable program: The Asylum Sports Bar & Grill, Grand Real Estate Management, Reid Tozier, Architectural Design, G & G Heating and Repair, Gridiron Restaurant and Sports Pub, Palmer Spring Co., Coco Cheveux, Maine Orthodontics, Skip Murphy’s, Irving Oil, Casablanca Cruises, Pepsi, and Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution.
