Portland, Maine - Rob Frost, the Pirates Athletic Trainer, will be going to East Africa this summer with the sports ministry Athletes In Action. Athletes In Action works with athletes and coaches to use the unique platform of sports to help people around the world with questions of faith in Jesus Christ.

"I am excited by the opportunity I have to join with Athletes In Action on their tour to East Africa," Frost said. "This will be my second time going to Africa to offer my services and knowledge of sports medicine and strength training, and I know from that experience there is a great desire among the African basketball coaches to learn and apply these concepts."

A team of high school and college basketball coaches from across America will be going to Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda to put on coaching clinics for the coaches in that region from August 3-17th. Frost will be joining the effort to teach the important concepts of sports medicine and strength and conditioning.

In addition, the group will be spending considerable time in Kibera, a slum of Nairobi, Kenya, providing humanitarian and medical aid to the people there. They will be teaching Bible lessons as well as lessons on AIDS prevention and personal hygiene, and working on construction projects for a local school in Nairobi.

"The leadership of Athletes in Action will ensure that there will not be a minute wasted on this tour to Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda," said Frost. "When we are not giving a clinic on sports medicine or basketball we will be visiting schools, orphanages, handing out hygiene and other humanitarian aid, and giving Bible lessons."
