ROCHESTER TO BE THE OPPONENT IN FIRST BUFFALO GAME

BUFFALO, NY - The Buffalo Sabres announced today that tickets for the Thursday, November 12 (7 p.m.) game between the Portland Pirates and Rochester Americans at HSBC Arena will go on sale Thursday at 10 a.m.

Ticket prices range from $15-$25, with groups of 15 or more receiving $5 off the box office price. To purchase tickets or for more information, call 1-888-GO-SABRES or visit www.sabres.com.

Portland and Rochester will also play at HSBC Arena on Sunday, March 7 at 4 p.m. Ticket information for that game will be announced at a later date.

Now in their second season as Buffalo’s AHL affiliate, the Pirates played their first game at HSBC Arena against the Albany River Rats on February 10, 2008. The game was attended by 11,144 fans, the largest crowd to ever witness a Pirates home game in franchise history.

The Pirates return to action Friday when they travel to Albany to face the River Rats at 7 p.m. The game can be heard live on News Talk WLOB 95.5FM beginning with the pre-game show at 6:45 p.m.

The Pirates 2009-2010 home opener will take place this Saturday (October 10th) when the Providence Bruins visit the Cumberland County Civic Center for a 7 p.m. start. The first ever Treasure Chest contest, Magnetic schedule giveaway and USA Hockey Member Night highlight the beginning of the home portion of the Pirates 2009-10 regular season schedule.
