International Talk Like A Pirate Day

DO YOUR BEST CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW IMPERSONATION AND WIN PIRATES TICKETS!

Portland, Maine - Celebrate International Talk Like A Pirate Day tomorrow (Friday) with the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League as we pay tribute to our heritage.

Greet your family and friends with an “Ahoy, Matey!” throughout the day and stop by Monument Square between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to visit with Salty Pete, the Pirates mascot. Fans who get into the spirit and talk like a Pirate could win tickets to the Pirates home opener on Saturday, October 10th against the Providence Bruins, tickets to catch Pirates pre-season action at the Portland Ice Arena on Saturday, September 26th or Wednesday, September 30th or even a starring role on the Cumberland County Civic Center video scoreboard during a Pirates regular season game!

International Talk Like A Pirate Day, officially celebrated on September 19th of each year, was created in 1995 by John Baur (Ol' Chumbucket) and Mark Summers (Cap'n Slappy), of Albany, Oregon. They proclaimed that everyone in the world should talk like a pirate for one day. The “holiday” and its observance evolved from a romanticized view of the Golden Age of Piracy.

For your chance to win listen tomorrow (Friday) morning at 7:30 a.m. when the Pirates will join The Captain and Celeste on 102.9 WBLM, Maine’s Classic Rock Station.
