Worcester, MA –In a game reminiscent of their brawl filled contest at the end of the 2011-12 season, the Portland Pirates fell to the Worcester Sharks by a score of 5-1 on Saturday night in front of an intimate crowd at the DCU Center in Worcester.

On that powerplay, the Sharks would strike again, this time with Danny Groulx doing the honors on a 5 on 3. The game would calm down until the waning minutes of the period, when both Yanni Gourde and Curt Gogal would score for the Sharks with under 4 minutes to go to give Worcester the 4 goal advantage at the intermission.
The third period dissolved into chaos quickly, with play becoming an all-out brawl. After Brendan Shinnimin was checked into the half-board stanchionby Acolatse, Louis went after him to set off another fight. Yanni Gourde would then score his second goal of the game to give Worcester a 5 goal advantage. Then the game turned nasty, with Darian Dziurzynski and Reid going at it at the halfway mark in the period. Joel Rechlicz was also involved, and was assessed a game misconduct after challenging the entire Worcester bench to a fight. Off the following faceoff, Matt Pelach went after Jordan Martinook with Phil Lane coming to Martinook’s aid.
