Worcester, MA – The Portland Pirates will play their first road game of the season, and first game of a three game road trip, as they face off against the Worcester Sharks on Sunday afternoon. Puck drop is set for 5 pm from the DCU Center as the Pirates look for their first win of the 2013-14 season.

The Pirates come off a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the hottest team in the AHL, the Hartford Wolf Pack at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee last night. Gilbert Brulé scored his first Pirates goal, while Brandon Yip had two assists and Andy Miele scored to add to his team leading point total. Mark Visentin had another great performance, stopping 35 shots in the defeat. Saturday night’s game was the annual Pink in the Rink event, sponsored by Central Maine Medical Center, with the Pirates wearing special Pink jerseys and honoring breast cancer survivors, fighters, caretakers, and their families throughout the night.

Worcester played in just their second game last night, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The Sharks got goals from Freddy Hamilton and John McCarthy, but allowed 3 in the third period, including Tom Kuhnhackl’s second of the game with just 40 seconds left in regulation. Harri Sateri made 20 saves in the loss.
