Pirates Shade Devils in Overtime

ENROTH OUTSTANDING IN 36-SAVE PERFORMANCE

Portland, Maine - Mark Mancari scored a power-play goal with 24 seconds remaining in overtime and Jhonas Enroth made 36 saves to carry the Portland Pirates to a 3-2 win over the Lowell Devils in an American Hockey League game played tonight in front of 3,409 at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

Derek Whitmore and Kyle Wanvig also scored for the Pirates while Nathan Gerbe and Tyler Ennis each collected two assists.

Louie Robitaille and Stephen Gionta scored for the Devils. Gionta’s goal came with only 65 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime.

The Pirates led 2-1 after the first and second periods.

The Pirates improved to 3-0 on home ice with the win and are now 4-7 on the season.

Lowell dropped to 4-4-2-0 in their third straight loss.

The Devils out shot the Pirates 38-20 in the game.

The three stars of the game were all from the Pirates. Mancari was the first, Enroth the second and Wanvig the third.

The Pirates complete weekend action tomorrow (Saturday) in a Halloween celebration as they take on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in a 7 p.m. start at the CCCC. All fans attending the game in costume will receive a free flex ticket good for a future Pirates game, one fan dressed as the best pirate will win tickets to the 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic, kids can trick or treat, there will be a costume parade and lots of great prizes.
