Hartford, CT – The first place Portland Pirates will continue their 4 game road trip when they travel to Hartford to face the Connecticut Whale at the XL Center on Friday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 PM as the Pirates and Whale clash for the 6th time this season and third time in Hartford.

The Pirates are coming off a 5-2 victory over the Providence Bruins on Monday in a game that was rescheduled from Friday, February 8th. Rob Klinkhammer powered the Pirates with 2 goals and an assist, and 4 different Pirates had multi point games. The win allowed the Pirates to remain atop the Atlantic Division, snapping the Bruins 6 game win streak.

The Whale last played a two game series in St. John’s on February 9th and 10th, defeating the IceCaps by scores of 4-1 and 7-3. The Whale was led by Michael Haley, who scored 3 goals on the weekend, as well as Kris Newbury who added a goal and two assists during the series. The Whale have registered points in their last 3 contests, and currently sit in second in the Northeast Division.

The Pirates and Whale last clashed at the Cumberland County Civic Center, with Connecticut defeating Portland by a 4-1 score. Kris Newbury and Chad Kolarik, now with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, each had a power play goal and an assist and Jason Missiaen stopped 32 of the 33 shots he faced for the Whale. The Pirates hold a 3-2 advantage in the season series, but have dropped the last two games to the Whale, both at home.

The game can be heard on 95.5 and 95.9 WPEI in the Portland area, 92.7FM and 100.7 FM WOXO FM in the Lewiston/Auburn area, and online on the WLOB radio player and AHL Live. The pregame show starts at 6:40 with Jeff Mannix.
