Pirates Start Road Trip in Bridgeport
Bridgeport, CT – The first place Portland Pirates start their season long 5 game road trip a day later than expected tonight when they face the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport. The puck is set to drop at 7 pm as these two teams clash for the 4th time this season. The Pirates will welcome back their captain, Alexandre Bolduc, for his first contest since he returned from Phoenix.
The Pirates have had a week long layoff since their last game, as their Friday night contest against the Providence Bruins was moved to Monday night due to the blizzard. Bridgeport last played on February 2 as well, defeating the defending Calder Cup Champion Norfolk Admirals by a 4-1 score. Kevin Poulin made 26 of 27 saves for the Sound Tigers as Brock Nelson registered a hat trick to lead Bridgeport. The Sound Tigers sit in second in the Northeast Division with 47 points on the year.
The Pirates and Sound Tigers last faced off on January 12, with Portland notching a 6-3 victory at Webster Bank Arena. Portland overcame a 2 goal deficit as Jordan Szwarz scored twice and Brendan Shinnimin registered 3 points on the night. Mark Visentin had 39 saves on 42 shots for the win.
