Pirates Clash with Devils on Go Red! Night
Portland, ME – The Atlantic Division leading Portland Pirates will look for their third straight win on Saturday night as they face the Albany Devils at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland. Faceoff will be at 7 PM as the Pirates and Devils will clash for the first time this season, and the only time at the Civic Center
The Pirates defeated the Worcester Sharks in a shootout on Friday night, with forward Chris Brown scoring the game winner to give Portland the 3-2 victory. Goaltender Mike Lee, making his 2nd career start, racked up his third career win by stopping 36 of the 38 shots he faced in addition to stopping all 5 shootout attempts against him. Lee has now allowed a goal in 2 shootouts this season with the Pirates. Ethan Werek and Rob Klinkhammer had goals for the Pirates, with Klinkhammer adding an assist.
Albany traveled to Portland last night following a 5-1 defeat at the hands of the Providence Bruins. Tim Sestito had the lone Albany goal, and Keith Kinkaid had 33 saves on 38 shots in the loss. Cam Janssen made his Albany Devils debut in Friday night’s contest.
This will be the first time that the Devils and Pirates meet this season, and the Devils’ only visit to Portland. These two teams will meet again in Albany on March 30th. The last meeting between the two teams was on April 10, 2011, when the Pirates defeated the Devils 3-2 at home. Since the Devils moved to Albany, Portland is 2-0 against them.
Tonight is Go Red! Night at the Civic Center, presented by the American Heart Association. Fans are encouraged to wear red to the game, as the Pirates will be wearing their red away jerseys to show their support for the American Heart Association in Maine! It will also be Junior Achievement night, as students from Casco Bay High School who have completed the Junior Achievement program will be honored. It is also Girl Scout night, where all girl scouts in attendance will receive a special commemorative patch!
Tickets are still available by calling (207) 828-4665 ext. 350 or online at ticketmaster.com.
