Chris Summers Named To AHL ALL Star Roster
Portland, Maine – The American Hockey League announced today that Portland Pirates defenseman Chris Summers have been named to the AHL All Star Classic Eastern Conference team. He will take the spot of Pirates defenseman David Rundblad, who is currently in the NHL with the Phoenix Coyotes.
Summers, a 6 foot 2, 210 pound defenseman from Ann Arbor, Michigan, is in his fourth AHL season, and second with the Portland Pirates. In 34 games with Portland, Summers has scored 1 goal to go with 7 assists and 43 penalty minutes. This is Summers’ first AHL All Star selection.
In 23 career NHL games, all with the Phoenix Coyotes, Summers has 2 assists and has registered 41 penalty minutes.
Summers was Phoenix’s second choice (first round, 29th overall) in the 2006 Entry Draft, and played 4 years at the University of Michigan (CCHA).
