Portland, Maine – Phoenix Coyotes Assistant General Manager and Portland Pirates General Manager Brad Treliving announced today that the Coyotes have assigned goaltender Mike Lee from the Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL to the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.
The 6-foot-1, 190 pound Lee registered a 12-11-1 record with a 2.13 goals against average and a .926 save percentage in 25 games played for the Gladiators this season, his first professional season. Lee was twice named the Reebok Hockey ECHL goaltender of the week this season, for the weeks of October 22nd and November 12th, and was named to the 2012-13 ECHL All Star Team.
The 22-year-old native of Roseau, Minnesota was the captain of the St. Cloud State Huskies in his junior season, posting a record of 8-6-2 with a 2.23 goals against average and a .930 save percentage in 16 games.
Lee has appeared in one game for the Pirates this season, stopping 28 of 29 shots faced en route to his first AHL victory against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Saturday, December 8th.
Lee was selected by the Phoenix Coyotes in round 3 (#91 overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft
