WEEK IN REVIEW

Tuesday, January 8th: Portland 7, Worcester 3

The Pirates tied their season high in goals and scored 5 unanswered to beat the Sharks at the Cumberland County Civic Center. The win tied the team record for consecutive wins at home at 8, which was set during the inaugural ’93-’94 season. Chris Brown and Brendan Shinnimin each had two goals for the Pirates, with Shinnimin adding an assist as well.

Saturday, January 12th: Portland 5, at Bridgeport 3

Portland came back from a 2 goal deficit to defeat the Sound Tigers 6-3 in their first visit to the Webster Bank Arena. Jordan Szwarz had 2 goals and an assist while Brendan Shinnimin and Evan Brophey both had a goal with two assists to power the Pirates. Mark Visentin won his 6th straight start, stopping 39 of 42 shots faced. Ethan Werek played in his 100th game for the Pirates and in his AHL career.

Sunday, January 13th: Portland 3, at Worcester 1

The Pirates defeated the Sharks for their fourth straight win on Sunday by a 3-1 score at the DCU Center in Worcester. Jordan Szwarz scored again for the Pirates, with Rob Klinkhammer picking up his 200th career AHL point with an assist in the first period, and adding a second assist in the third. Evan Brophey played in his 400th career AHL game, picking up an assist.

THIS COMING WEEK

Tuesday, January 15th vs. Connecticut (7PM)

The Pirates go for their record breaking 9th straight home win on Tuesday against the Connecticut Whale.

Friday, January 18th at Providence (7:05 PM)

The Pirates travel to Providence for the second time this season to face the P-Bruins

 Saturday, January 19th vs.  Connecticut (7 PM)

The Pirates play the Whale for the second time in a week at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Olaf Kolzig Bobblehead Night!

 Sunday, January 20th at Manchester (3 PM)

The Pirates renew their rivalry with the Monarchs in Sunday matinee action. The VIP Cup Series between the Monarchs and Pirates, presented by VIP Parts, Tires, and Service, is tied at 3 games apiece.

Practice will be held at the Cumberland County Civic Center Monday and Thursday at 10:30 AM and is open to the public
