Pirates face Shark in battle for Atlantic Dominance
Portland, Maine– After two days off, the first place Portland Pirates will get back to work on Tuesday evening when they host the Worcester Sharks at the Cumberland County Civic Center. Puck drop will be at 7:00PM ET.
The Pirates are coming off of an 2-1 victory this past Saturday at home against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Andy Miele’s goal 15:29 into the first period was all was the difference maker for the Pirates, as they improved to 2-0 against Bridgeport this season. Pirates goaltender Mark Visentin was remarkable once again, stopping 39 of 40 shots to secure his 8th win of the season.
Worcester is also looking to keep things rolling after a 2-1 win on the road on Sunday at Hershey. Sharks forward Jon Matsumoto’s goal in the second period was enough for Worcester, as they have moved within striking distance behind Portland in the Atlantic division standings with 39 points.
Tuesday night’s matchup will be the seventh meeting between Portland and Worcester, with the season series currently tied at 3-3. The last meeting saw the Pirates edge the Sharks by a 3-2 margin at the DCU Center in Worcester as part of their season long 6 game winning streak.
Tickets are still available by calling (207) 828-4665 ext. 350 or online at ticketmaster.com.
The game can be heard on 95.5 and 95.9 WPEI in the Portland area, 92.7FM and 100.7 FM WOXO FM in the Lewiston/Auburn area, and online on the WLOB radio player and AHL Live.
