Pirates, P-Bruins to Clash in Portland
Portland, ME – The Portland Pirates will look to start another winning streak when they face the Providence Bruins on Thursday night at the Cumberland County Civic Center. Faceoff will be at 7 PM as the Pirates and P-Bruins clash in Portland for the third time this season.
The Pirates are coming off a disappointing 5-3 loss to the Monarchs in Manchester that ended their season long 6 game winning streak. Andy Miele continued his impressive play for the Pirates, netting a goal in his 4th straight game, but it was not enough as the Monarchs’ Tyler Toffoli had his second hat trick against the Pirates this season. Chad Johnson had 32 saves on 36 shots for the Pirates, with Toffoli’s third goal of the night an empty netter. The Monarchs’ win tied the VIP Cup Series, presented by VIP Parts, Tires, & Service at 3 games apiece.
The P-Bruins last played on the 22nd as well, defeating the Connecticut Whale 3-1 in Hartford. Goaltender Michael Hutchinson had 24 saves while Chris Bourque, Christian Hanson, and Jamie Tardiff all tallied goals for the Bruins.
The Bruins are undefeated at the Cumberland County Civic Center this year, posting victories of 2-1 and 5-2. These two teams have not yet met in Providence this season, but will play 5 times in Providence and twice more in Portland in 2013.
Tickets are still available by calling (207) 828-4665 ext. 350 or online at ticketmaster.com.
The game can be heard on 95.5 and 95.9 WPEI in the Portland area, 92.7FM and 100.7 FM WOXO FM in the Lewiston/Auburn area, and online on the WLOB radio player and AHL Live.
