Pirates Back on Road, Face B-Sens for Final Time This Season
Binghamton, NY– The Portland Pirates get back to action this Friday when they travel to Binghamton, New York to battle the Senators. The puck will drop at 7:05 PM as these two clubs will face off for the second and final time this season, with Portland taking game one 4-2 earlier in the season.
After four days of rest, Portland is looking to keep things rolling after coming off an impressive 4-0 road victory at Manchester last Sunday. Rob Klinkhammer led the way for the Pirates with 2 second period goals, securing his third multi-goal game of the season to help Portland tie the Monarchs in their season series of the VIP Cup Series, presented by VIP Parts, Tires, and Service.
Binghamton, currently sitting at second place in the Eastern Division with 26 points is also coming off a comfortable win four days ago after a 5-2 victory at home against the Syracuse Crunch. With 2 games in hand and only 2 points behind Syracuse, a win tonight will temporarily put Binghamton in a tie for first place in their division.
This will be the second and final season meeting between the Portland Pirates and the Binghamton Senators. The Pirates took the first game of the season in Lewiston at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee 4-2 with the help of some excellent goaltending by Pirates’ netminder Chad Johnson. With one game in hand on divisional foe St. John’s, a win tonight against the Senators could propel the Pirates to third place in the Atlantic Division.
The game can be heard on 95.5 and 95.9 WPEI in the Portland area, 92.7FM and 100.7 FM WOXO FM in the Lewiston/Auburn area, and online on the WLOB radio player and AHL Live.
