Pirates Travel to Worcester to Face Sharks

Portland, ME – The Portland Pirates return to the road on Saturday when they travel to Worcester to face the Sharks. The Puck will drop at 7:00 PM from the DCU Center for the 4th meeting between the two teams this year.

The Pirates are coming off a thrilling, come from behind 6-5 overtime win against the Eastern Conference leading Springfield Falcons on Friday night. Alexandre Bolduc had two goals, Andy Miele had 4 assists, and Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored just 19 seconds into overtime to give the Pirates the victory in a game they trailed by 3. The second period saw 8 goals, including 4 consecutive power play goals for the Pirates.

The Sharks had an overtime game of their own Friday night, beating the Manchester Monarchs by a 4-3 score. Freddie Hamilton had the game winner for the Sharks at the 2:59 mark of the extra period. Goaltender Harri Sateri had 29 saves on 32 shots in the victory for the sharks, who improve to 8-6-1-1, tied for 1st in the Atlantic division with the Manchester Monarchs. The Pirates are in third place, just 2 points back of the Monarchs and Sharks with 16.This is the 4th meeting between the Sharks and Pirates this year, with Worcester holding a 2-1 advantage. The Sharks defeated the Pirates 4-2 in their last meeting at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée, in a penalty filled game that saw Rob Klinkhammer score 2 goals for Portland. The Sharks were able to come back from a goal down with 3 goals in the final 10 minutes of play for the victory.
