WEEK IN REVIEW

November 14th –Worcester 4, Portland 2 (in Lewiston)

In their return to Lewiston, the Pirates had the lead for most of the game, but three Worcester Goals in the final 10 minutes of play sealed the win for the Sharks. Rob Klinkhammer had both of the Portland goals, giving him 5 on the year and 2 multi-goal games on the season. Mark Visentin took the loss for the Pirates, allowing 3 goals on 31 shots.

November 16th – Portland 2, at Connecticut 1

Chad Johnson returned to Connecticut and had 29 saves on 30 shots against his former team, losing a shutout with only 36 seconds left in the game. Portland’s offense was supplied by Alexandre Bolduc, who scored his team leading 9th goal of the season, and Chris Brown, who scored his 5th.

November 17th – Providence 2, Portland 1

The Pirates were unable to overcome strong goaltending by Niklas Svedberg despite putting 36 shots on goal, falling to the Bruins 2-1. Phil Lane had the goal for the Pirates in the loss, with Mark Visentin stopping 24 of 26 shots for Portland.

 SALTY PETE’S PIRATES OF THE WEEK

1)      Rob Klinkhammer scored twice to supply all of the Portland offense in Wednesday’s loss vs. Worcester. Klinkhammer has 5 goals on the year and 2 multi-goal games, with the first being his hat trick against St. John’s in October.

2)      Chad Johnson stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced against Connecticut to lead the Pirates to a 2-1 victory against the Whale. Johnson has allowed 4 goals in his last 5 games.

3)      Alexandre Bolduc extended his team lead in goals to 9 with his goal against the Whale on Friday. Bolduc is tied with several others for the league lead in goals, and is ranked 13th in points with 14

THIS COMING WEEK

Tuesday, November 20th vs. Manchester

The Pirates face the Monarchs for the second time this season, with the Monarchs holding the 1-0 edge in VIP Cup action, presented by VIP Parts, Tires, and Service. Puck drops at 7 PM from the Civic Center.

Friday, November 23rd vs. Springfield

The Pirates will debut their special 20th anniversary uniforms on Black Friday when they face the Springfield Falcons for the first time this season on Friday. The Falcons defeated the Pirates by a 3-2 score when they played in Springfield in October.

Saturday, November 24th at Worcester

The Pirates travel to Worcester for the second time when they face the Sharks for the third time in 10 days. Worcester holds a 2-1 advantage in the season series, with the Pirates’ win coming in the home opener in Lewiston on October 19th.

Sunday, November 25th at Manchester

The Pirates will face the Monarchs for the second time in a week when they travel to the Verizon Wireless Arena for the second time this year. Puck drops at 3 PM from Manchester.
