WEEK OF OCTOBER 29th, 2012

Week in Review

Record this week: (2-1-1-0)   Overall Record: (3-3-1-0)

October 23rd – at St. John’s 8, Portland 7 (OT)

In a wild, back and forth contest that saw Rob Klinkhammer score the first hat trick in nearly 2 years for the Pirates, Portland was unable to hold onto the lead and fell by a score of 8 to 7. Alexandre Bolduc, Chris Brown, Andy Miele, and Evan Brophey also scored for the Pirates. Kilnkhammer’s hat trick gave him a total of 5 points on the night (3G, 2A), but it was not enough, as Alex Burmistrov scored the game winner for the IceCaps just 1:03 into the overtime period.

 October 24th – Portland 4, at St. John’s 0

Goaltender Chad Johnson had his first Pirates shutout and Alexandre Bolduc scored twice to give Portland the 4-0 victory. A night after giving up 8 goals on 30 shots, Johnson stopped all 27 shots he face to earn his first win of the year, and the first shutout for the Pirates since David Leggio’s scoreless performance against the Providence Bruins on March 29, 2011. Bolduc’s two goals, giving him a goal in 4 straight games, were more than enough offense for Portland, with additional goals coming from Brett Hextall and Chris Conner.

October 27th – Portland 4, Binghamton 2

The Pirates 2nd straight shutout in Lewiston was a successful one, as Portland powered past Binghamton 4-2. Alexandre Bolduc scored the first Pirates goal to extend his goal scoring streak to 5 games, and Andy Miele, Jordan Szwarz, and Mathieu Brodeur provided the rest of the offense for Portland. Chad Johnson stopped 38 of the 40 shots he faced for his second straight victory.

October 28th – at Springfield 3, Portland 2

Three first period goals were too much for the Pirates to overcome, as they fell just short of a comeback by a score of 3-2. Alexandre Bolduc brought his point streak up to 6 straight games with an assist on Ethan Werek’s 2nd period goal, and Michael Stone provided the other Pirates tally. Rookie goaltender Mark Visentin stopped 26 of the 28 shots for the loss..
